Rodney Williford riding for Willidford Racing aboard his turbo charged Suzuki Hayabusa has became only the third person in the history of motorcycle drag racing to take his fine tuned street legal machine into the six second zone.
During Friday testing prior to the MIROCK Superbike Series Fast By Gast Spring Nationals at Maryland International Raceway Williford clocked a 6.97 elapsed time.
Williford’s 6.95et @ 204.88mph during the second qualifying session makes him only the second turbo charged entry to enter the Pro Street 6 second exclusive club.
He joins Frankie Stotz’s Honda CBR 1000RR as one of two turbo charged machines to enter the club.
Williford’s turbocharged Suzuki Hayabusa is a street legal 68″ wheel base motorcycle (non wheelie bar) pushing 600hp running on a street legal DOT approved tire.
Ryan Schnitz became the first to enter and break the six second barrier riding his HTP Performance Nitrous Oxide Injected Suzuki Hayabusa, he did so in 2011 and collected a $10,000 pay day form Hays Machine Works for becoming the first to do so while using a Hays Machine Works clutch system.
The Hays Machine Works 6 Second club has monies that are still available to racers that break into the 6’s while using one of the company’s clutch system.
